You may have heard about Shiatsu, and most likely many people will hear the word massage and immediately assume that they've heard a Shiatsu therapy massage. However, in actuality, Shiatsu originates from the Japanese word, tsui, or"finger pressure" which translates into"finger pressure". Today, it has come to encompass massage treatment but there's still a significant gap between the two.  
  
Although Shiatsu originated in Japan, the practice has been emulated by many distinct cultures over time. When using this method, it's important for the practitioner to be aware of where the acupoints are located so that they can use the perfect amount of pressure. Too much or too little pressure can actually be a cause of harm, therefore it's very important for a professional to properly identify where exactly these acupoints are located.  
  
As stated earlier, Ashiatsu began in Japan but has since been embraced around the world. Some practitioners specialize in only barefoot massage or other kinds of massage therapy, while others have found that Ashiatsu is a perfect fusion for them. A massage therapist with the proper training will not only understand how to properly apply these techniques, but may also have extensive knowledge about the many ailments and conditions that Ashiatsu is effective in treating.  
  
One of the primary reasons that Ashiatsu became so popular is that it's able to target an assortment of conditions and ailments. Unlike a massage therapist who might be limited to treating mild injuries or illnesses, an Ashiatsu practitioner has the knowledge and experience to take care of patients of any age or physical ability. These professionals also work closely with their clients, making sure that they are not overdoing the use of pressure or applying too much pressure on certain regions of the body.
